Give your technical career a boost and join our team as Director of Technical Operations. The goal of this role is to holistically manage and further develop our technical fleet operations—ensuring they are cost-effective, reliable, and future-oriented.
Your responsibilities:
- You ensure the technical readiness and operational reliability of our entire fleet and keep track of all relevant systems, machinery, and equipment
- You will coordinate maintenance and repair activities, assess risks, and implement preventive measures to avoid downtime
- You will plan and oversee the winter and port phases, including the technical infrastructure
- You will oversee collaboration with shipyards, technical partners, and regulatory authorities, and assist with inspections and certifications
- You will coordinate technical incidents and insurance claims from the initial report through to resolution and ensure that all documentation is properly maintained
- You will conduct technical vessel handover procedures and ensure that all documentation is complete and audit-proof
- You will have overall responsibility for technical projects such as modernizations, renovations, or dry-docking—from planning through to cost control
- You lead project teams, set milestones, and ensure the project’s success
- You will drive digital transformation in the technical field and further develop areas such as fleet monitoring, maintenance planning, and reporting
- You will identify opportunities for automation and implement new tools and systems in close collaboration with the business units
- You ensure a structured database and use it to make informed decisions
- You will lead and develop our technical field team, recruit new employees, and support their professional growth
- You conduct performance and development reviews and keep track of work-related metrics such as hours worked and absences
Your profil:
- You have a college degree in a technical field, ideally related to marine engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a comparable field
- You have several years of experience in a technical leadership role, preferably in the maritime or mobility sector
- You have a solid understanding of process optimization, quality management, and continuous improvement in technical operations
- You have experience in developing and implementing technical strategies as well as in investment planning
- You are familiar with regulatory requirements and relevant regulations, including certifications
- You have experience in budget management, resource planning, and technical controlling
- You work in an analytical and organized manner and have a strong grasp of numbers
- You are fluent in spoken and written German and English; knowledge of other languages is a plus
- You demonstrate strong leadership skills and are able to motivate and effectively guide interdisciplinary teams
- You take a solution-oriented approach, take responsibility, and keep a clear head even in challenging situations
- You are a team player, feel comfortable working in an international environment, and have strong intercultural skills
- You are open to digital innovations and new technologies and actively help shape changes
